He holds a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine (1987) from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM)—where he was among the first full-time graduates in Canada—and a B.Sc. in Biology (1979). His academic foundation is further strengthened by postgraduate training in Nutrition and Traditional Chinese Medicine, leading to his registration as an Acupuncturist.

Dr. Ali's commitment to evidence-based practice extends to the forefront of psychoneuroimmunology. In 2006, he completed advanced studies in Body/Mind Medicine at Harvard Medical School, where he remains affiliated with the Postgraduate Association. He has held academic appointments as a faculty member and clinical supervisor at CCNM and the Canadian College of Holistic Health (CCHH), instructing in Chinese Medicine, Nutrition, and clinical therapeutics.

His professional leadership includes serving as an Editorial Board Advisor for Alive Magazine, a Board Member of the Ontario Board of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (OBACM), and a member of the Ontario Association of Naturopathic Doctors (OAND). In active private practice for nearly 40 years, his clinical focus integrates nutritional biochemistry, botanical medicine, and sports nutrition with an emphasis on safe, non-intrusive interventions.

A prolific author and international lecturer, Dr. Ali has published over 30 articles and 27 books, including the bestselling The Tea Tree Oil Bible and his most recent work, The Hopeful Little Book on Cancer. His media presence spans numerous radio and television appearances, and he is a sought-after speaker on complementary health strategies worldwide.

Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Ali is deeply committed to community service. He serves on the Board of Women That Give (WTG), is a supporter of Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital and the World Wildlife Foundation, and is a Past President of the Toronto Annex Lions Club.

Philosophy and Current Focus: Dr. Ali's mission is to advance the public understanding of integrative health and to drive continued research into herbal and natural therapeutics. He is particularly focused on bridging conventional and complementary paradigms, exploring how natural products can modulate biological systems in the context of chronic disease and cellular health.

As he states: "You are not only what you eat, but what you think and combine on a physical, psychological, mental and spiritual level—through eating well, exercising, and enjoying life." His current research and clinical interests align closely with the emerging science of phytochemicals and their potential role in supporting cellular resilience and targeted therapeutic strategies.
